Our Philosophy

The philosophy of the Green Garden Preschool is based in the thoughts and pedagogical work of Loris Malaguzzi.  Where the paint, music, his multiple languages, and the co-participation with parents are the strategies that permit development of the intelligence while using it.  Green Garden Preschool enriches the process of learning using Spanish language, art, dance/movement and different other activities.  This is a school conceived with the system of interactive learning inserted in an ecological project, where the moral values and the ethic are permanent in our daily routines and activities.  Green Garden Preschool offers the educational services from initial to preschool, infants starting at 3 months and up to 5 years old.

The Green Garden Preschool program follows the guidelines of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  NAEYC believes that through a nurturing, high-quality early childhood education (ECE) program, each child is given the opportunity to grow socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively, and creatively.  By incorporating developmentally appropriate practices with individual awareness, children develop the understanding of concepts about themselves, others, and the world around them.  Through observation and interacting with people and real objects, they can seek solutions to concrete problems.

Maritza Vera

Green Garden Preschool was started by Maritza Vera, who has 10 years of experience in early childhood education.  She graduated from the University of Chiapas in Mexico with a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business Administration. She also attended UCLA and received her certificate in Early Childhood Development.

As a loving mother of two, she has an understanding for the needs of both the parents and children who come to Green Garden Preschool.  She enjoys and firmly believes in fostering a child's creativity through art.  It is important to Maritza that learning is fun, which is why she incorporates music, story time, dancing, cooking, and gardening in her childcare program.

Testimonial

“It's hard to find an affordable preschool daycare in this area where I know my son will not only be given great care, but be challenged and stimulated. Green Garden Preschool provides just that for our family.  I love the organic food they serve and the different  programs they do everyday -- the yoga, the music, the art classes.  My son loves it all.
